Training & Behavior Solutions for Austin's Dog Owners from Elizabeth Givens

Welcome! If you are having difficulty with problems like leash-pulling, jumping up, excitability, aggression, anxiety, or destructive behavior, solutions are available. . Animal Behaviorist,  Elizabeth Givens, MA, CPDT-KA, and her staff have been helping dog owners find these solutions for over 20 years.

We will work with you to determine the nature and causes of your dog's behavior and then, using science-based training methods, relaxation therapy and behavior modification, we will develop an appropriate plan to help your dog be a happier pet.

SAFE Training for Dogs -  Group & Private Dog Training Classes

Dog training classes will address some of the more common behavior problems, like jumping-up and leash pulling. And, they will also teach the skills you need that will give you better control of your dog and help him or her adapt  to life in the world of another species - people.

It is critical that all dogs learn the basics like "Come", "Stay" "Leave-It" and how to walk on a loose leash. Being able to take these cues from their owners is essential for the dog's safety, for the safety of people and for a good quality of life for everyone. (Check out the full list of the 27 SAFE Training Skills here).

SAFE Training will also qualify you to take the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen certification exam! Be recognized for your dog's good behavior. The CGC is intended to reward dogs and their owners for their hard work at training and good behavior in public. (Read more about the CGC program here)

Best of all, dog training classes are fun! They provide both physical and mental stimulation for your dog, encourage social interaction and, best of all, help strengthen
the bond between you and your canine family member.

Behavior Consulting Services for Difficult Behavior Issues

More serious issues like aggression, separation anxiety, noise phobias, destructive or self-destructive behavior and others require a more in-depth approach that falls outside the scope of the help you will receive in a dog training class. Because most behavior problems (including many types of aggression) involve anxiety, one of critical elements to solving these problems is the reduction of stress through a technique called  Canine Relaxation Therapy (CRT)

Sessions take place either in your home or in our office. All of our methods are designed with your dog's behavioral health as the top priority. We use absolutely no aversive training methods and do not permit use of these methods in any of our classes or sessions. Our primary concern is for the happiness and well-being of your dog and for improving his or her quality of life. (read more)
